Yerkes - Eleanor Sowers

Mrs. Eleanor Sowers Yerkes, 57 died Monday at 12:40 p.m. at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She suffered a heart attack one week ago and was taken to Culver at that time. She was born April 18, 1907 in Fountain County to Huston and Gertrude Keeling Sowers. She married Dafford Yerkes Sept 12, 1925 in Veedersburg. Mrs. Yerkes was a member of the Wallace Freedom Christian Church, the Ladies Aid Society of the church and the Wallace OES 415. She lived her entire life in the Wallace community and the past 12 years half a mile west of the city. She is survived by her husband; 3 sons, Corwin and Cathmar Yerkes of Waynetown and Kenneth Yerkes of RR Kingman; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Stephens of Mellott and Mrs. Velma Delks of Montezuma; one brother, Oral Sowers of Wallace and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Goldie Rathole. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Christian Church. Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour preceding services. Friends may call at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
