THORNTOWN – Rachel M. Yount, 77, of Thorntown, died at 8:55 p.m. Monday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, where she had been a patient since Saturday. She had been in failing health two years. She was a resident nearly all her life of this community and for years was employed at the Thorntown Textile Co. Mrs. Yount was a member of the First Methodist Church here. A native of Montgomery County, she was a daughter of Daniel and Sally Gonce and was born Nov. 21, 1889. She married James Yount on Jan. 19, 1907 in Boone County. He died in January of 1965. Surviving are two sons, George D. of Advance and Robert O. of Lebanon; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Iva Riley of Dayton, Ind. A son, Verne, died three weeks ago. Also deceased are two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Russell and Hitch Funeral Home in Thorntown, where friends may call. Rev. Willard Eckroth of Darlington will be the minister, and burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery here. – jlr
