Rev. John E. Newhouse, pastor of the ME Church at New market, writes the following concerning Mrs. Mary Wray whose death was announced in the Journal last week.  “Her race was short but well ran.  She joined the ME Church Feb 13, 1866 and remained a faithful member till death.  She was a woman possessed with much natural and acquired ability, very devoted to her friends and the church and an intelligent worker in the Sunday school.  The funeral service was held in the ME Church at New Market Nov 3 at 9 a.m. attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and conducted by the pastor. After the service at the church the body was followed to its last resting place at Ladoga to await the resurrection of the just. The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Wm. White of New Market. May the peace which passeth knowledge fill the hearths of all surviving friends.”
