Wray - Martha Gilliland

Martha Elvina, fifth daughter of Samuel and Mary Gilliland was born July 15, 1850, five miles south of Crawfordsville on the farm that is known as the old Gilliland home and on part of this same farm where she lived her entire married life of more than fifty years. She passed away Monday evening, Feb. 12, 1934. Aunt Matt, as she was familiarly called, had been in declining health since the death of her husband, Edwin Wray, four years ago. She was a woman possessed with an unusual amount of optimism and had a cheerful welcome for everyone. After her long years of exemplary living she went to sleep like a weary traveler by the wayside waiting only for God to release her spirit from the frail worn out body. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Smith, one brother, William Gilliland and many nieces and nephews as survivors.
