Hillsboro - Forest M. Wood, 64, died suddenly late Wednesday afternoon at his home in Lake-of-the-Woods, near Bremen, Ind. Death was due to a coronary occulsion. Wood, member of the famous Franklin College Wonder Five basketball team of the early 1920's coached basketball and football at South Bend for many years. In addition, he served as health officer for the South Bend schools for many years before he retired. He coached basketball at Hillsboro before going to South Bend. At Franklin College, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned his master's at Indiana University. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at Franklin. He was born May 17, 1900 near Hillsboro, the son of Charles and Emma Myer Wood. He was first married to Sina Tinsley of Hillsboro. Following her death, he married Ruth Koontz of Bremen. The survivors include the widow; twin son and daughter, Richard Even Wood and Mrs. Emma Lou Weaver, both of Michigan; 5 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Florence Shade of Hillsboro; three brothers, Marvin Wood of Plymouth, Henry Wood of near Waynetown and Gerald Wood of Ft. Wayne and a number of nieces and nephews. Another sister, Mrs. Virgie Grenard preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday. --kbz
