Aaron Johnson WOLFE, son of Henry and Sarah Frances Wolfe, was born in Armiesburg, Nov 4, 1854 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albertus Upton, Oct 6, aged 59 years, 11 months and two days. Mr. Wolfe was married to Martha M. (Humphrey) KELSO, Dec. 24, 1873. His wife preceded him in death, Nov 27, 1912. There were born to this union 7 children, four of whom died in infancy. Three daughters, Mrs. Bessie C. McCoy, Mrs. Pauline D. Christ and Mrs. Myrtle Blanche Upton, live to mourn the loss of their father. Besides these, three sons-in-law, John McCoy, G. Lee Christ and Albertus Upton; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Milton K. and Robert Allen Wolfe; and a host of other relatives and friends appreciate the loss of a man whose place will not be quickly filled with the passing of the years. Mr. Wolfe became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Waveland some 40 years ago. During these years he has occupied different official positions in the Church, coming to be known as one of the most faithful and progressive churchmen in the community. His splendid Christian character, coupled with his clear business ability, made him an asset of the greatest value to any Church. In business circles in Waveland, and other places, Mr. Wolfe has been an important factor. He was at the time of his death, and had been for several years, a director in the Waveland State Bank, and had business interests at New Market, Crawfordsville, Veedersburg and in Danville, ill. Wherever he labored he was known as a man of keen business judgement and, with that, of sterling integrity. His counsel and the inspiration of his character will be missed in many places. Words of eulogy are but lightly spoken, the crown woven by human hands but slight in weight and value; the monument that we raise to the memory of one so well loved and whose loss we so greatly mourn is the monument of the worth of his own life. The passing of the years has marked the end of the physical life, but just as we trust in the promises of Almighty God to make real the hope of eternal life for the soul, we believe that the spirit of the life lingers in our memories to bless us and to inspire us in the doing of things that will make brighter, happier, and more worth while the living of all in so far as we are able to extend our influence. -- kbz

Aaron J. Wolfe, 49 years old, one of the county's best known and most prominent residents, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Upton, in Waveland, at 8 Tuesday evening, after a sudden illness which had its beginning only a few days ago. When Mr. Wolfe became ill he was taken to the home of his daughter where it was thought he would recover. His condition became worse until death occurred Tuesday evening. Mr. Wolfe held a prominent place in the business activities of Montgomery County for many years. Born on a farm near Waveland, he spent his early days in that community and secured his education in the schools there and in the old Waveland Academy. For years he was engaged in the lumber business, conducting a sawmill at Waveland. Later he dealt in merchandise. In all his business ventures, Mr. Wolfe was successful and he held the reputation of being absolutely fair and honorable in all of his business dealings. He was chosen trustee of Brown Township and his efficient and careful management of this position gained for him the confidence of all residents of the township. The deceased's wife and five children preceded him to the grave, 3 children surviving him. These are: Mrs. John McCoy and Mrs. Lee Crist of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Upton at whose home in Waveland, Mr. Wolfe's death occurred. -- kbz
