Wine - Mary Stoner

Mrs. Mary Wine former Ladoga resident, died in a Covington, Ohio hospital Friday after a long illness. Born Aug. 11, 1885, near Ladoga, she was a daughter of Samuel and Lina Stoner. She married Rev. Grover I. Wine June 1, 1911. Mrs. Wine, an author, had two books of poetry published - “Patch Work and Rhythm” and “Altar Candles.” She also wrote many magazine articles. She attended district grade school No. 5 near Ladoga and Manchester Bible College. Rev. Wine served churches in Ohio, Illinois and Indiana for more than 47 years. He retired three years ago when Mrs. Wine’s health began failing. Survivors include the husband, a daughter, Mrs. Galen Ogden of Elgin, Ill.; five brothers, Morris of Tipton, Paul of Ladoga, John E. of Bangkok, Thailand, Ben of Cincinnati and Joe of Schnectasy, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. W. W. Peters of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, both of Elgin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral rites are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Brethren in Covington, Ohio. Graveside rites will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. near North Manchester.- contributed
