Wilshire - Melvina Strode

NEW MARKET – Mrs. Melvinia C. Wilshire, 84, New Market, former owner and operator of the Wilshire Inn at Waveland, died suddenly Monday at her home. She was a member of Browns Valley Baptist Church, Browns Valley Missionary and American Legion Auxilary. She made her home at Waveland until 1959 when she moved to New Market. Born Nov. 12, 1887, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Harmon and Elvira Arterburn Strode. She married Mirt C. Wilshire March 30, 1905, at Waveland. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Harry of Indianapolis and George of Crown Point; four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Virne) Gibson of Moore Haven, Fla., Mrs. Gerald (Roberta) Zachary of New Ross, Mrs. Artia Belle Zachary of Bloomington and Mrs. Franklin (Mabel) Johnson of Crawfordsville; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home at Waveland with Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery at Waveland.
