Verna Irene Williams, 89 of Waynetown died Tuesday at Lane House Health Care Center, Crawfordsville. She had been a retail clerk for GC Murphy Co and retired in Nov 1973. She was a member of Waynetown Baptist Church. She had attended Pleasant View School in Opdyke, Ill.

She was born Nov 1, 1908 in Opdyke, to Samuel and Lula Veatch Miller. She married Virgil Lee Williams on Oct 20, 1945. He preceded her in May 1961.  

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Barbara Wanda Allen of California; Mrs. Joan Eileen Wright and Mrs. Patricia Ann Stephens both of Chattanooga, Tenn; three brothers, Ernest Miller of Terre Haute, Burton Miller of Chicago and Wayne Miller of Plainfield; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Harlan of Waynetown; 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband and by a stepson, Kenneth Williams.

The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Indiana 25 S, Waynetown with Rev. Ron Raffignone and Mrs. George Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemeteryu, Waynetown.
