Lloyd E. Williams, 67, retired employe of the Mid-States Steel & Wire Co., died Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. en route to Culver Hospital. He had been in failing health several months. Active in church and civic affairs most of his life, Mr. Williams was born Nov. 15, 1898, in Crawfordsville, the son of Clarence and Lillie Servies Williams. He married Nellie Reynolds Oct. 29, 1918. Mr. Williams was a member of the First EUB Church, teacher in the Helping Hands Class of the church 21 years and director of the church choir 18 years. A talented musician, he was a member of the church orchestra and community chorus. Mr. Williams was president of the Crawfordsville Lions Club in 1957. Previously he had served the club in other capacities. He also was a member of the city planning commission and zoning board. During his long tenure with Mid-States, which began in 1916 and ended with his retirement in 1963, Mr. Williams had served the company as master mechanic, project engineer and president of the 4-X and Foremen's clubs. He also was a Member of the POS of A Lodge. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Nellie Williams; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Williams McLaughlin of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mildred Williams Sparacio of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Austin Williams of Fontana, Calif., and six grandchildren. One of the grandchildren, Tim Sparacio, was reared in the Williams home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. John Servies and Rev. Bennett Fulp officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday.
