Fay Williams, 70, of 211 S. Vine St., one of the founders of Symmes-Williams Electric Co., Inc., died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital after an illness of five weeks. A veteran of World War I, he served in the 62nd Engineers and was a motorcycle courier for Gen. John J. Pershing's headquarters in France. Upon returning from Europe he was graduated from the Electrical Engineering Technical School at Chicago. He helped to found the Symmes-Williams firm in 1926. Mr. Williams was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, WWI Veterans, Elks and Eagles Lodges. He was a past commander of the Legion and a life member of the Elks. He served as superintendent of the Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power utility in 1952-56. Mr. Williams was a son of Clinton A. and Letitia Roult Williams and was born in Crawfordsville Nov. 27, 1895. He was married here June 6, 1917 to Lucille Corbin, who survives. Survivors besides the wife are two brothers, Kenelm and Dwight Williams of Crawfordsville; two sisters-in-law, Sue and Doris Williams, and a brother-in-law, Edgar Stewart, also of this city. Two sisters are deceased. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Howard F. Miller and Rev. Paul Million officiating and burial in Masonic Cemetery.
