Wilkinson - James - 1900

Another pioneer of Montgomery County has passed away. James Wilkinson, of Union Township, near New Market, died on Saturday morning, Feb. 23. He had been afflicted for several months and death came as a welcome messenger, slowly but surely. Uncle Jimmy, as he was familiarly known, had lived not only three score and ten years, the time allotted unto man, but four score and ten, save two days.
He came to this county in the year 1830 and settled on the farm on which he died. He was a kind neighbor, a loving father and a true and faithful friend. He was fair and honest in all his dealings.
He leaves to mourn their loss three sons and three daughters.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Oliphant, of Crawfordsville, at the Indian Creek Old Baptist Church, after which the remains were beautifully laid away in the Indian Creek Cemetery. -s
