Clint K. Wilkins, 85, of Linden, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after a short illness. He was a liftime resident and farmer. Born in Lafayette on February 12, 1923 to the late Harold Ward Wilkins and Eleanor Mae Kelly. He was a graduate from Linden High School in 1941. He entered Norte Dame University in 1941, and left in 1943 after enlisting in the Army Air Corps. Piloting a B-24 bomber, he was stationed in the South Pacific Theater with the 380th Bomb Group, the "Flying Circus", during World War II. After being honorably discharges as a First Lieutenant in 1946, he returned to Linden where he started his lifelong vocation of raising crops and livestock on the family farm with his father. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Linden State Bank in 1963, and served for more than 30 years. He was a licensed pilot, and restored a Fairchild PT-19 Trainer and flew it actively until he was 80 years old. He was a Scout master with the Boy Scouts for many years.
He married Mary Isabel Ward on August 9, 1947 and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Belinda Mae Wilkins of Linden, two sons, Ward K. Wilkins (wife: Lorraine) of Lafayette and C. K. Wilkins (wife: Delinda) of New Richmond.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Hannaah Runnels of Colorado, Kelly B. Wilkins of Lafayette and Camella Wilkins of Crawfordsville, and four step grandchildren.
