Williams James - 1896
Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Review, June 19, 1896
On Sunday, Aug 7 a memorial sermon will be delivered at Center Church at Elmdale in honor of the late James Williams, whom it will be remembered dropped dead in his pew at Church a few weeks since. Mrs. Williams was a prominent member of the GAR and in his discourse, the minister preaching his funeral omitted any mention whatever of his record as a soldier. This highly displeased the comrades and they decided to have the funeral preached a second time. They have secured the services of Rev. GW Switzer of Shawnee Mound, who will deliver a memorial address at the place named Aug. 7.
