Miss Mary Ann Williams died at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Williams on Wood Street, early on Tuesday morning. She has been in poor health for some time following a fall that fractured one shoulder, and pneumonia developed. Funeral services at the home on Thursday afternoon were in charge of Rev. Victor Keiser. The pallbearers were Frank McClain, Jesse McMains, Earl McNutt, Darwin McNutt, Ray Sharp und John Gilliland. Miss Williams was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret Penny Williams and was born near Greencastle, December 12, 1857. The family moved to a farm near Waveland, and when the father entered the service during the Civil War, they moved to Waveland. The family consisted of five boys: William, John, Charles, Clay and Elmer; and four girls: Mary, Margaret, Millie and Ella, of whom all have passed away but Ella, of Waveland. The mother died in 1894, and as the father was an invalid, she became the head of the household, a trust which she faithfully carried out. The father died in 1897. She joined the Methodist Church in 1886 under the pastorate of Rev. L. S. Buckles. While of a quiet and undemonstrative disposition, she was an affectionate daughter and sister, a good neighbor, and an earnest Christian. Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Wiatt of Terre Haute, Mrs. William Williams and daughter, Lena, of Crawfordsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Porter and son, James, of Portland Mills. - transcribed by kbz
