The accident to the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Williams
(Carl Haskins Williams) noted last week, terminated fatally on
Friday. On Thursday he was not so well and was taken to Culver
Hospital. On Friday afternoon the attending physician went in to
see him and found him so much worse that he went to the telephone
to call the parents. When he returned the child was dead. Funeral
services were held on Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. &
Mrs. Winter Fullenwider, Rev. JT Boyer being in charge. The body
was laid to rest in a bed of flowers in the Presbyterian
Cemetery. The following obituary was read by Mrs. Corta Dooley.
On June 14, 1920, Grant and Ida Williams brought into their home
from the Glenn home at Terre Haute a bright-eyed little boy named
Carl Haskins. While living at Washington, Indiana, they adopted
him as their own giving him the name, Carl Haskins Williams on
Sept. 23, 1921. He was of a happy loveable nature kind and
generous to his play mates and brought much happiness into the
home of his foster parents. They loved and cared for him as their
own and their hearts are sorely grieved at his being so sudenly
taken from their care. But short as was his stay they are
comforted with knowing that they have cared for and loved one of
Gods little children, bereft of home and mother. Surely they
shall have their reward. Carl was b. Feb 25, 1915. Died June 9,
1922, age 7 years, 3 months and 14 days. Though their home is
made desolate and their hearts are breaking, they realize little
one is now "Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on his gentle
breast." - transcribed by kbz
