Source: April 1980 p 14 Montgomery Co Magazine - If a young man in the County wore a Widdop suit and owned a Rapp buggy he was considered "tops" in all the world. Shortly after the Civil War, in 1866, William W. Widdop and his young wife, Kate, came to Ladoga from the central wool growing countries of England. Both were skilled in designing and making men's clothing. Soon after young Widdop opened his shop, word spread of his expertise. He did not merely make clothes, but he "built" the garment to fit the man. Mere cloth might wear out, but a Widdop garment held its form and fit to the last thread. The business grew and grew to the full capacity of a one-man cutter and designer. Widdop was known to employ 20 to 30 skilled "Jere" tailors. His payrolls were enormous for these skilled workers were paid well. ..

Whoops, guess this is a biography but in case I find his death-obit I'll leave her here - sorry :(  NOTE: Not sure if same man ??
