John T. Whittington, son of Tyre Whittington, who was born and raised on a farm north of Freedom church in this county, died at his home in Cayuga this morning at three o’clock. He had been in failing health for about a year, but a month ago he grew considerably worse and continued so until the end. His death was due to heart disease and stomach trouble. He married Miss Mary Ellen Deere of this county, a sister of Mrs. W.T. Whittington of this city. After he was married he moved to a farm near that owned by his parents and resided there until eighteen years ago when he moved to Cayuga. He was one of the leading gardeners and fruit growers of that vicinity and was known all over Indiana because of the fine strawberries he produced. He is survived by his widow and five children, Clyde, Garnett, Julia, Frank, and Beatty. One son died in infancy. He was a member of the Freedom Church, which he joined at an early age, and always kept his membership there. The funeral will be held on Friday morning and there will be a short service at the home. The body will then be brought overland to Freedom church, where the regular service will be held at one in the afternoon, with burial in the nearby cemetery. -thanks to Sue P :)
