Whitham - Glenn

COVINGTON – Glenn Howard Whitham, 85, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday at Care Nursing Home in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient four months. Mr. Whitham was a member of the Covington Presbyterian Church. He had been a farmer in Missouri, and the Rankin, Ill., and Cleveland, Ohio, areas. He also at one time was a banker. For a while he resided in Waveland and was gate keeper at Shades State Park. He was a graduate of Rankin, Ill. High School and attended Orchard Lake Military Academy and Purdue University. A native of Rankin, Ill., he was born Oct. 11, 1882, to Eugene and Elizabeth (George) Whitham. He was married to Minnie A. Silvers July 12, 1908. She died July 17, 1966. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gladys Stearnes of Geneva, Ill., and two nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. (EST) Tuesday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral home here with Rev. Glenn Ray officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery at Rankin, Ill., where graveside rites will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. (CST). Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening. The family requests donations to the Giddion Bible Fund in lieu of flowers. – jlr
