Harry Edgar Whiteley, 82, farmer of Rt 1 was fatally stricken with a heart ailment while at work at his home and died 1:30 p.m. Monday a few minutes after being brought to Culver Hospital. A native of Boone County he was a son of Martin Z and Mary A. Gillaspie Whiteley and was born Sept 24, 1886. He was married to Jennie Dossett. Surviving are the wife; a stepson, Newell Dossett and step grandson, Tony Ray Dossett of Crawfordsville. Mr. Whiteley was a member of the New Ross Christian Church and charter member of the American Legion Post there. He served in the Army in 1911-15 and in the Navy for 3 years during WWII. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Thusrday at Hunt & Son Funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Albert Amos will be the minister and burial in New Ross Cemetery. -- kbz
