LINDEN — Thomas Phelix White, 83, longtime resident of Linden, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday in Logansport. He had been ill for a year and seriously ill for the last week. Mr. White was a member of the Linden Christian Church and had lived in the community for 60 years. He had done farming work all his life prior to retirement. Born Aug. 2, 1881, at Tompkinsville, Ky., Mr. White was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James White. He was reared and attended school in Kentucky. In 1904, he married Melinda Marr. His first wife died in 1929. He was then married to Lena Bell House in 1941. His second wife preceded him in death in 1946. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Vail and Mrs. Harry Vail of Linden; three sons, Curtis of Hamilton, Ohio, Howard of Attica and Thomas P. Jr., stationed with the U.S. Navy in California; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Helm Funeral Chapel in Linden but no time has been set yet. Rev. Willis Syphers will officiate. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery.
