LINDEN – Charles Wesley White, 69, retired rural mail carrier and life resident of this community, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in Home Hospital at Lafayette, where he had been a patient 13 days. He had been ill six weeks. Mr. White was a mail carrier 45 years. He was a member of Linden-Kirkpatrick United Methodist Church, Linden Masonic Lodge 679, World War I SAT&C, National Rural Letter Carriers Association and Association of Retired Civil Employes. He was a 1916 graduate of Linden High School and in 1917 of Central Business College. Mr. White was a son of Joseph W. and Sarah M. Gwin White and was born Dec. 10, 1898. He was married Oct. 6, 1925 to Ruth Patton. Surviving are his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Max E. and Katherine White of Crawfordsville, Don E. and Ruth G. White of Covington and Charles W. and Nancy J. White Jr. of Linden; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Earl L. Warren, of New Richmond; a brother, George L. White of Linden, and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were three sisters, a brother and a grandchild. Funeral services are set at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Helms Funeral Home with Rev. Dale M. Wilson the minister and burial in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr

COVINGTON - Charles Wesley White, age 69, of Linden, father of Don E. white of Covington, a teacher in Covington High School, died Saturday, Sept. 15, in Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been in six weeks and was hospitalized 13 days.
Mr. White was born Dec. 10, 1898, and he was a life resident of Linden.  He retired as a postal carrier in 1963.
Surviving are: his wife, Ruth Patton White; three sons, Max E, of Crawfordsville, Don E. of Covington and Charles W. Jr., of Linden; one sister; one brother and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Helms Funeral Home in Linden.  The Rev. Dale Wilson officiated and burial was in the Linden Cemetery.
