The funeral services of John W. White were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Lytle, 19 North Franklin Street, and were largely attended by the many friends whom Mr. White had made during his long residence in Danville. In addition to the number of old friends, fifty members of the local tribe of Red Men were present, Mr. White having joined that order in Quincy shortly before his death. The many sincere expressions of regret and the magnificent floral offerings told plainly of the esteem and affection in which the deceased was held in Danville, not only as a prominent citizen, but as a friend and a man.—Danville Commercial -s

John W. White, a brother of Hon. M. D. White, of this city, died Thursday night at his home in Quincy, Ill., after a very short illness. Mr. White had just finished reading a letter this morning from Quincy telling him of the illness of his brother when he was handed a telegram announcing his death. He was nearly overcome by the shock and had to be taken home in a cab, but has rallied.
John W. White formerly ran the Arlington Hotel at Danville, Ill., and also conducted a hotel at Chicago during the World’s Fair. At the time of his death he was operating the Tremont House in Quincy. He was one of the best known hotel men in the middle states and had many friends in this city, where he had frequently visited. -s
