Charles Lawson Whitaker, 62, of Detroit, formerly of Montgomery County, died Monday morning in Ford Hospital at Detroit. Born June 26, 1907 near Waynetown, he was a son of Ora and Ossie Swank Whitaker. He attended elementary school in Waynetown and was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School. Mr. Whitaker went to Detroit in 1927 and had lived there since. In 1929 he was married there to Beulah Walls of Crawfordsville. He was a retired theater manager. Surviving are his wife; his mother of Hillsboro; two brothers, Bill Whitaker of Zionsville and Herman Whitaker of Waynetown; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Mattingly and Mrs. Edith McDonald of Crawfordsville, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Grosse Point, Mich., with graveside rites at 3 p.m. Thursday at Ridgefarm, Ill. – jlr

HILLSBORO — Charles Lawson Whitaker, age 62, of Detroit, Mich., son of Mrs. Ossie S. Whitaker of Hillsboro, died Monday morning, Dec. 15, at the Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Mr. Whitaker was born June 26, 1907, in the Waynetown area, the son of Ora and Ossie Swank Whitaker. He attended elementary school in Waynetown and was graduated from high school in Crawfordsville.  He went to Detroit in 1927 and was a Beatrice Foods employee there until his retirement.  In 1929 he married Beulah Walls of Crawfordsville in Detroit.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: his mother of Hillsboro; two brothers, Herman of Waynetown and Bill of Zionsville; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Mattingly and Mrs. Edith McDonald, both of Crawfordsville: and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Gross Point, Mich.
Graveside rites were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Ridgefarrn, Ill.
