Waynetown - Herman E. Whitaker, 76 of Waynetown died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in Culver Union Hospital.  He owned and operated Whitaker Furniture Store at Waynetown until 1972.  He had been in the furniture business for 43 years.  He was a former member of the Waynetown Merchant Association.  He was a member and elder of Waynetown Christian Church.  For many years he served as trustee for the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.  He was a 50-year member and past worthy patron of Waynetown Order of Eastern Star.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Low-12 Club.  He was a 1927 graduate of Crawfordsville HS.  Mr. Whitaker was born at Wickerham, Wash on Aug 12, 1900 to Ora and Clara "Ossie" Swank WHitaker. He was married at Crawfordsville on Aug 16, 1920 to Mildred Alice Norman of New Richmond. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Charles Norman of Seattle, Wash; a brother, Bill of Zionsville and a sister Mrs. Donald (Edith) McDonald of Crawfordsville.  A brother and three sisters preceded him in death. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Dorman Winger and Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday and up to the service time on Monday at the funeral home. - kbz
