John L. White, brother of the late George White, and for several years a resident of Crawfordsville, died in Chicago Friday morning according to a message received here by friends. Mr. White was 68 years old and the son of Hon. M. D. White, who for many years was one of Crawfordsville's most prominent residents. The deceased spent the early years of his life in this city where he learned to become an expert telegrapher under the direction of Henry and Harmon Hutton. During his lifetime he had filled some of Western Union's most important assignments being sent to many parts of the country. In recent years he had been with this company in Chicago. Mr. White was never married. Those surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Howard Shaw of Dayton O., and Mrs. Grace Fendley of Los Angeles, Calif. His parents, a sister, Mrs. Wallace Stillwell and a brother, George White, preceded him in death. His brother who passed away shortly after the close of the world war was for many years the manager of the Music Hall. Mr. White will be well remembered by many of the older residents of Crawfordsville and leaves besides his family a large circle of friends to mourn his passing. The body will arrive here Saturday noon from Chicago and the burial will be in the masonic cemetery Saturday afternoon. - kbz
