Westfall - Mary Francis

Mrs. Mary Jane Westfall, 90 year old, mother of Charles Westfall, well known local businessman died Friday noon at her home in New Richmond. She had been ill several months. Born Feb 4, 1850, in Champaign Co IL Mrs. Westfall was the daughter of Reese and Katherine Barclay Francis, pioneer Illinois residents. She was united in marriage with Job Westfall near Waynetown in 1869, and to this union 4 children were born. The husband, a veteran of the Civil War died in 1922. Mrs. Westfall spent her girlhood in Illinois where she heard the Lincoln-Douglas debates. She came to Montgomery County with her family following her marriage and in recent years had resided in New Richmond. Surviving besides the son in this city are a son, Elmer of New Richmond; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren a half sister, Mrs. Carrie Grenard of near Waynetown and two cousins. Also preceding her in death were a brother and a sister; a son, Marion of Rocky Ford, Colorado; and a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Bonnell of Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the late residence in New Richmond, with burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery near Wingate. Friends may pay their respects at the Utterback & Murphy Funeral Home here until Saturday noon when the body will be returned to New Richmond. - kbz
