Gould W. Westfall, 72 of 205 E. College Street, died Wednesday afternoon in St. Francis Hospital at Beech Grove after an illness of several months. Mr. Westfall was a used furniture dealer most of his life except 2 years when he was employed by RR Donnelley & Sons. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church, Athens Saddle Club & Fraternal Order of Police. A veteran of WWI, he was a 45-year-member of Byron Cox Post of the American Legion. Born Oct 3, 1894, in Montgomery County, he was a son of George and Mary Jane Oppy Westfall. He was married in 1916 to Ruth Marie Williams. She died in 1955. Surviving are two sons, Maurice of West Newton and Charles of Shrewsbury, Mass; two daughters, Mrs. Madge Wright of West Newton and Mrs. Mary Alice Allom of San Antonio Tx; a brother, John of Romney; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Pflughaupt of Romney; 10 grandchidlren and two greats. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dayton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. RG Skidmore, pastor of West Newton Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak HIll Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
