Elsie May Reynolds Westfall, eldest sibling of my grandmother, Flora Etta Reynolds Todd. Nov. 9, 1884 is listed as the correct birthdate in both Flora's Bible and the obit. However, there is a disagreement as to the birth PLACE.
Flora's Bible Records say that Elsie was born in Cass County, Indiana. The obit says the birthplace was in New Richmond, Montgomery County, Indiana. I believe the obit is wrong, as there were several children, ranging from 1884-1891 listed as being born in Cass County. Also, Elsie's parents were listed as being married in Cass County and the family of Elsie's father were residing in Cass County during the years of 1866-1873.
Also, conflicting records exist on the name of Elsie's father...Edwin L. Reynolds in some places...Edward L. Reynolds in others. Elsie's mother, Edward (Edwin's) wife, was Olive Mary Merritt Reynolds. Anything you find on them would be appreciated. This obit is important because I never knew Elsie and the person who sent the obit to me knows little about my line of Reynolds. This obit was all he had. So, there is a great listing of family members to be shared with him. I know the family of Elsie and Flora were residing in Montgomery County by Dec. 4, 1892 when the first of the Montgomery County children were born, at least by Flora's Bible Records. The main question is the location of Elsie May Reynolds Westfall's birth, and death info, too. She reportedly died in February of 1920.
