WAYNETOWN, Ind. — Mrs. Edith Rae West, 77, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 2, at her home in Waynetown. She had been ill 10 years. Born July 1, 1891, in Sterling, she was the daughter of George A. and Gertrude Gilkey McCoy. She was married Oct. 2, 1909, at Danville, Ill., to John J. West, who died in 1950. Mrs. West was a member of the Christian Church and attended Fountain County schools. She resided in the Mellot and Newtown areas, moving to Waynetown 46 years ago. Survivors include 10 sons, James and George, both of Lafayette, J. T., Alfred and Paul, all of Waynetown, Gerald of Linton; Donald of Rosedale, Oscar of Veedersburg, Max and Robert, both of Veedersburg; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Springer, Mrs. Mary Lewellen and Mrs. Martha Hutchison, all of Waynetown, and Mrs. Maxine Weliver of Smartsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Nichols and Mrs. Lula Fisher, both of Crawfordsville; a brother, Ted McCoy of Brazil; 48 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dale in 1964. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home. Rev. Guy E. Tremaine and the Rev. Morris Finch officiated. Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
