Weir - Effie Parkinson

Mrs. Effie Parkinson Weir, 73, 709 Grace Ave., widow of William E. [Everett] Weir, died Tuesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Watkins, in Indianapolis. She had been ill two months with a heart ailment. Born Dec. 1, 1878, in Fountain County, Mrs. Weir was the daughter of Joel and Elizabeth Groves Parkinson. She was married Oct. 24, 1900 to William E. Weir, who died July 19, 1951. Mrs. Weir was a life resident of Fountain and Montgomery Counties. She was a member of the Ridge Farm Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was the last of a family of eight children. Surviving, besides the daughter at whose home she died, are three other daughters, Mrs. Ruth Thompson, Mrs. Eldora Titus, and Mrs. Dorothy Bowman, all of this city; two sons, Joel Weir, Yountsville, and Willard Weir, Tuscon, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Proffitt & Sons Mortuary, with burial at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
