Billy Knight's father, George A. Knight shot at what he supposed was a burglar leaving his house last night at Brazil and, it is thought killed him. Instead of being a burglar the man was county clerk JM Wehrle, of Clay County. Mr. Knight is a well known attorney and is prostrated with grief at his mistake. He and Wehrle were bosom friends. On Tuesday afternoon, at Brazil, Officer Louderbeck filed affidavit in Justice James' court against George A. Knight, charging manslaughter for the shooting of J.M. Wehrle, as a supposed burglar on the night of the 16th hinst. Mr. Knight's son represented the father, waiving process and asking continuance until Monday July 29. Bond was fixed at $10,000 for appearance, which was promptly given -- kbz
