Weesner - Robert

Darlington - Mr. and Mrs. Erving Weesner and sons, Mrs. Olive Rhoada, Ernest Wesmer, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Peebles, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Peebles have returned from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin where they attended funeral services for Robert Weesner on Monday afternoon. Mr. Weesner who was 82, was the father of Erving Weesner and brother of Mrs. Rhoda. His death was Saturday morning followed by a long illness. He was born August 30, 1873, at the Weesner farm home a quarter of a mile south of Darlington and lived there until his marriage to Mabel Peebles on March 26, 1890 (check these dates - hard to read in newspaper printout). They engaged in farming near here until moving to Wisconsin in 1916. Since 1944 Mr. Weesner had been retired because of ill health. He and Mrs. Weesner observed their 50th wedding anniversary four weeks ago. Mr. Weesner was a birthright member of the Friends Church but after moving to Wisconsin he was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in St. Croix Falls. He also represented the church at a national meeting in New York. Surviving besides the son at Darlington is another son, Lowell of Graceville, Minn (?); a daughter, Miss Grace Weesner of St. Croix Falls; four grandchildren, a brother, Walter W. Weesner of Denver, Colo; and his sister, Mrs. Rhoda. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Marie Weesner two sisters, Mrs. Hanna Peebles and is Margaret Weesner and a brother, Ernest Weesner. -- kbz
