This morning at 9 o'clock H.J. Webster passed quietly away. Mr. Webster has been very feeble for several years, being prostrated by a paryletic stroke some time ago but had rallied and been about up to a few weeks ago when he became very weak while on a visit at his daughter's in Crawfordsville returning home a couple of weeks ago. Mr. Webster was recorder of this county from 1861-1869 moving to Illinois ? in '70 returning to this county in 1872 and was of a number of years in partnership with W>H. Simms in the merchandising business. Mr. Webster has been a member of the IOOF Fraternity for 50 years. He was born in Ohio in 1818 and came to this county about 1847 of '8. The remains will be laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery in Crawfordsville. No arrangements have been made as we go to press. kbz

H. J. Webster died quite suddenly this morning at the home of his son, Albert, in Waynetown. He was reading a paper when he was suddenly attacked with dropsy of the heart, from which he has been suffering for some time, and soon passed away.
The funeral occurs at Waynetown Monday at 10:30 o’clock and on the afternoon train the remains will be brought here for interment. The interment occurs at the Masonic Cemetery under the auspices of the Odd Fellows’ fraternity, of which the deceased was a prominent member. All Odd Fellows are cordially invited to attend.
Mr. Webster was born in Ohio about 75 years ago and came to Montgomery County in 1847, settling at Ladoga. Except for a short residence in Urbana, Ill., he has been in this county ever since, having resided for the last 20 years at Waynetown.
Mr. Webster was county recorder for eight years, his term of office being 1861_9. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church and was a man honored and lived in the community where he lived. He was a good citizen and a courteous gentleman, charitable and kind, ever ready to do good. Mr. Webster leaves five children and a wife to mourn him. His children are William H. Webster, of Crawfordsville; Charles Webster, Marion; Albert Webster, Marion; Mrs. J. M. Bishop, Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Minnie H. Hudson of Alvin, Texas.

The funeral of Hugh J. Webster occurred at Waynetown this morning conducted by Rev. J. W. Greene. The services were in charge of the Waynetown lodge I.O.O.F. and in spite of the weather a large concourse of friends attended the services. Quite a number accompanied the remains to the city to be present at the interment.
