James Frank WELLIEVER, 48, well known local grocer, died at his home, 1007 E. College Street, at 7:10 o'clock Saturday morning. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy suffered two weeks ago. Mr. Welliever had been in ill health for many months during which time it was necessary to amputate both of his legs. Although he had gone through many weeks of intense, suffering, he maintained a cheerful disposition throughout his illness. The deceased was born at Mace, on Sept 25, 1882, son of Daniel and Mary Jane Welliever. He was married in 1915 to Ethel Walker. The deceased was a member of Modern Woodmen, Moose & Eagles lodges. For the past few years he had been engaged in the grocery business on East College. The survivors are the widow, Mrs. Ethel Welliever; the father, Daniel Welliever; two brothers, Ernest and Clifford; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Wharff and several nieces and nephews. His mother died Jan 26, 1929. The funeral services will be conducted at the home, 1007 E. College Monday afternoon at 2 with burial at Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery. - transcribed by kbz
