Weeks - Samuel Newton

George Newton Weeks, the subject of this sketch was born near Linnsburg, Ind Dec 16, 18760 and departed this life December 12, 1923, aged 62 years, 11 months 26 days. He was a son of Morris and Phoebe Weeks. He was united in marriage to Effie E. Crain, Sept 10, 1885 and to this union were born 7 children 3 of whom died in infancy. He and his wife united with the Presbyterian Church in their early married life and maintained Christian Fidelity through their life time. His companion preceded him in death in the year 1900, leaving him with four small children to care for and with a fatherly and motherly care he brought them to man and womanhood. He also was a charter member of the Improved Order of Red Men and practiced its principles of Freedom, Friendship and Charity. He was a good husband, a kind father and noble citizen. In his departure he leaves to mourn their loss, four children two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Lula Conner near Darlington; John Weeks of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mrs. Grace Bennett of Crawfordsville and Charles Weeks of East Chicago. Three grandchildren, Grace D. Wilbey (only one mentioned) son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Weeks and George Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bennett (really makes little sense but typed as is). Three sisters: Mrs. Lovia Davidson and Mrs. Carrie Edwards of near Linnsburg and Mrs. Lizzie Downing of Brazil. Two nephews, Arthur Davidson of near Linnsburg and Harry Edwards of East Chicago. Many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Linnsburg Christian Church December 14, 1923. Rev. JC Orebaugh officiated. -- kbz
