Robert "Bob" James Wedding, 72, Franklin, died Sunday
afternoon at Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where
he had been a patient for three days. He had been in failing
healthy seven months.
He was born May 7, 1914 in Crawfordsville, to Harrison "Harry"
and Florence (Long) Wedding. He married Mary Catherine (Reese)
Wedding June 7, 1939 and she survives.
He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1933 and from
Wabash College in 1937 with a bachelor of science degree. He
also received a library science degree in 1941 from the
University of Illionois.
He worked as a librarian four years at Wabash College and then
was owner and operator of Wedding Flower Shop in Indianapolis
seven years. He then was packaging engineer 26 years at the
former Amos Molded Plastics, now Alma Plastics in Edinburgh. He
retired in 1977.
Mr. Wedding moved to Franklin in January 1953 and was a member
of First Prebyterian Church of Franklin, where he was past
deacon, elder and trustee and a amember of the adult Sunday
school Class. He was also a member of Franklin Kiwanis Club and
a former member of Indianapolis Sertoma Club.
A graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn
Cemetery in Franklin will be followed by another service at 11
a.m. at the church with the Rev. James Shaffer officiating.
Friends may call at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin
from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the service
Wednesday.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mary Ann Wedding,
Franklin and Jane Seybolt, Duluth, Minn.; one brother Gordon
Wedding, Indianapolis and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frist Presbyterian
Church of Franklin.
