Anthony A. Watts, 61, prominent local attorney died at 10:20 p.m. Monday at Culver Hospital following a heart attack. He was born July 17, 1899, in Crawfordsville. His parents were Marion and Mary Michels Watts. In 1920 he married Mary Falen in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the First CHristian church. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post at Hartford City, a past commander of the VFW post in Crawfordsville and a charter member of the VFW in Indianpaolis, a 32nd Degree Mason, a membr of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and beloned to the Woodman and Moose lodges in Crawfordsville. He served as state legal advisor for the Fraternal Order of Eagles and as a Selective Service officer for Montgomery County. He received commendation from past Presidents Truman and Eisenhower for legal advice give to the Selective service. He was a member of the Montgomery County bar Association and served two terms as county prosecutor. He also served as Union Twp Justice of the Peace. He graduated from LaSalle Law School in Chicago. He was a veteran of WWI, serving in five major battles with the 150th Field Artillery of the Rainbow Division. He is survived by his widow a sister, Maude Hubble of Lafayette; a niece, Margurite Castle of Winnetka, Ill; a nephew, Edward Hubble of Cleveland and several cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother, a sister and his parents. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. kb
