Henry Everett Watts, age 75, of 916 Short St., Covington, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he was a patient for three days. He had been in ill health for six years. Mr. Watts was born March 8,1892 in Montgomery County, the son of Harvey and Cordelia Van Scoy Watts. He was married Oct. 14, 1935, to Gertrude Shumaker, who survives. He was a resident of Covington most of his life and he was a veteran of World War I. He was employed by the Schma Coal Co. of Covington for 24 years, and also was a mail contract carrier and a trucker. He retired six years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington, and the Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion of Covington. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Charles, and one daughter, Mrs. Kay Stewart, both of Covington; one stepson, Robert Truex of Danville; one brother, James of Waynetown; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Glenn Ray officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery where military rites were conducted at the graveside. -- typed by Walt W
