Uncle John Wasson died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James T. Mack in Champaign, Ill last Monday night at the age of 80 years after an illness of two years. The deceased was born in Rockbridge County, VA. He came to Crawfordsville in 1838 and engaged in blacksmithing, and between this business and farming he has spent almost his entire life in this city. He leaves two children, WN Wasson and Mrs. James T. Mack. His remains were brought to this city Tuesday and the funeral took place from the reisdence of WN Wasson on east Jefferson street, Wednesday mroning. Interment at Odd Fellows cemetery. - kbz

John Wasson, aged 80 years, died last night at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James T. Mack, in Champaign, Ill. Mr. Wasson has been ill for two years with heart trouble and dropsy. He was born in Rockbridge County, Va., and came to Crawfordsville in 1838. For many years he worked as a blacksmith, his shop standing upon the lot now occupied by the residence of Harris Pontius on East Main Street. For the past 20 years, Mr. Wasson has been engaged in farming and only within the last few months went to the home of his daughter in Champaign. He leaves two children, W. N. Wasson and Mrs. James T. Mack. The remains will arrive in this city today at 5 p.m. and the funeral will occur from the residence of W. N. Wasson on East Jefferson Street tomorrow morning at ten o’clock. Interment will be at Odd Fellow’s Cemetery. The many friends of Mr. Wasson will be pained to learn of his death as he was a man of sterling worth and was respected by all during his long residence in this city.
