Veedersburg - Wayne T. Washburn, 71 of Rt 4 Veedersburg, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday (Jan 25) in Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was a member of Osborne Prairie Christian Church, an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Fulton-Banta American Legion Post 291, a member of Fountain-Warren County Farm Bureau and had served on the Fountain County Draft Board for 20 years, serving as its president. He had been employed as a mechanic at the Chevrolet-Buick Garage at Covington, retiring in 1972. Born Nov 3, 1907 at Tuscola, Illinois, he was a son of Edward and Clara Tilford Washburn. He was married August 20, 1940 to Pauline Houts who survives. Also surviving are a nephew and nieces, James E. Washburn and Jo Beth Hough, both of Zionsville; a cousin, Maycile Shockley of Lebanon and a great niece and great nephew. Services will be at 2p.m. Sunday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington with Revs. Robert Karn and Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. ---kbz
