William Noel Warren, 43, chief announcer and program director of radio station WASK, died unexpectedly at 4:10 a.m. Monday at the family home, 119 Columbia St, West Lafayette. Death was due to a heart attack. Widely known in Lafayette and vicinity because of his radio work, his unexpected passing proved a great shock to all who knew him and who had come to be familiar with his radio voice. Born in Crawfordsville, he was graduated from high school there and married April 1, 1920 to Clara Sandlin. He came to Lafayette in 1935, taking employment with the Postal Telegraph company and went with WASK shortly after the local station started operation. He was a member of the Lafayette Elks Lodge. In addition he owned and operated a movie theater at Otterbein which he purchase last summer; he had been at the theater Sunday evening returning home before midnight. Surviving are the widow; two sons, Wm. N, Jr. of Monticello and Robert Eugene of Dayton; a sister, Mrs. John Walsh who is seriously ill in a hospital at Galesburg, Ill and brother, G. Cleo Warren of this city. - kbz
