Jesse S. Ward, 73, prominent Crawfordsville businessman, who during most of his life was ientified with the farming, livestock and real esate interests of this community died Monday night in Culver Hospital where he had been seriously ill since March 18. Born May 21, 1883 near Mace, Mr. Ward was the son of John and Mary Linn Ward. He married Ethel Campbel Feb 8, 1906. Mr. Ward was a member of the Mace Methodist Church and the Crawfordsville Elks and Eagles lodges. He also was a charter member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and chairman of the state visitation committee for the Larue Carter Memorial Hospital at Indianapolis. He also was a director of the old Montgomery County fair and was active in the fair organization. Mr. Ward, who also was an ardent Republican was active in his party's affairs at the state, county and city level for many years. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Rovenstine of Bourbon; three sisters, Mrs. Marshall Sicks and Mrs. Walter Peck, both of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Allie Boots of Darlington and three granddaughters, Rosemary, Reta and Roberta Rovenstine. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Donald McMahon of the First Methodist Church will be the officiating minister.
