Hazel Marie Ward, 80, formerly of Crawfordsville died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Morgan County Hospital at Martinsville. She was a retired school teacher and taught for 17 years in Enid, Okla., and Montgomery County schools. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 97 of Crawfordsville. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Travel Study Club and the retired teachers Association. Born April 23, 1896, she was a daughter of Ulysess Grant and Clara Sanders Ward of Whitesville. Survivors are a brother, Gordon M., of Crawfordsville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Christine Ward of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
