Elizabeth Watkins Ward, wife of Samuel J. Ward, deceased, was born January 1, 1841, and departed this life at the home of her son, John W. Ward, February 9, 1906, aged sixty-five years, one month, eight days. She united with the Union Christian Church (known as Union Chapel) in the year of 1870, afterwards moving her membership to the M. E. Church of Crawfordsville of which she was a worthy member until death. Her illness was comparatively brief and her death came as a painful shock to a wide circle of relatives and friends. She was kind and thoughtful towards others and was much loved and admired not only in the home circle but among a large number of friends. One unusual feature of her life was that she was born, raised, married and died in the same house and on the same farm, now the home of her son. She was the daughter of George and Serepta Watkins. Her near relatives are her son, John W. Ward, living north of Mace, two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Denny of Terre Haute; Mrs. Owen Wilson of Crawfordsville, and one brother, John W. Watkins, of Butler County, Ohio. Funeral was conducted at the M. E. Church at Mace on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Curnick, of Crawfordsville, assisted by Rev. Matthews. Burial at K. of P. Cemetery. - thanks to Sue P :)
