    John W. “Jack” Ward, 59, Darlington, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, November 17, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the brother of Larry Ward of Mellott and Mary Jo Smith of Kingman.
  He was born in Montgomery county January 11, 1924. On November 1, 1947, he married Katherine Ruth Vice, who survives. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Darlington American Legion, 40 and 8, Darlington Masonic Shrine, and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and the Montgomery county Shrine Club.
  Other survivors include his mother of Darlington; a son, Rick W. Ward of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Amy Wilcox of Darlington; three other brothers, Phil and Don Ward, both of Crawfordsville; and Harry Ward of Lake Holiday; five other sisters, Betty Wilson and Doris Keffer, both of Crawfordsville; Rosemarie Hollaway of Wingate, Mrs. Dean Sester of Danville, and Beverly High of Mace; and two grandchildren.
  Services were conducted Saturday at Burkhart Funeral Home’s Darlington Chapel with Rev. Wayne McAvoy officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn cemetery at Darlington. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Methodist Hospital, Hospice Unit, in Indianapolis.

Darlington - John W. "Jack" Ward, 59, of Darlington who was a carpenter for several years, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday at Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. Ward was a veteran of WWII where he was awarded the Bronze Star as a member of the US Army. He was a member of Darlington American Legion 40 & 8, Darlington Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine and Scottish RIte of Indianapolis and the Montgomery County Shrine Club. Mr. Ward was educated in the Mace and New Ross Schools. He was born in Montgomery County Jan 11, 1924. Hre married Katherine Ruth Vice Nov 1, 1947, she survives. Also surviving are his mother of Darlington; a son, Rick W. Ward of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Amy Wilcox of Darlington; four brothers, Phil and Don of Crawfordsville; Larry of Mellott and Harry of Lake Holiday; six sisters, Betty Wilson and DOnis Keffer of Crawofrdsville; Rosemarie Hollaway of WIngate; Mrs. Dean Setser of Danville; Mary Jo SMith of Kingman and Beverly High of Mace and two grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Burkhart Funeral Home's Darlington Chapel with the Rev. Wayne McAvoy officiating. Burial will be in Grenelawn Cemetery at Darlington. Friends may call at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 8 tonight. The family requests that memorials be mad ein the form of contributions to the Methodist Hospital Hospital unit. -- kbz
