- Widow of John Warbritton Prominent in Church Activities Mrs. Laura A. Warbritton, one of Crawfordsville's well known and highly respected women, the widow of the late John F. Warbritton, passed away at 9:25 o'clock Tuesday night, at her residence, 406 south Washington street. Mrs. Warbritton was taken Ill Sunday, Sept. 23, with a heart ailment. Mrs. Warbritton was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Rush of New Market, where she was born July 1, 1868. She was married Feb. 23, 1887 to Mr. Warbritton. He died in February 1944. Mr. and Mrs. Warbritton had resided in Crawfordsville for forty years or more, during which time they took part in many activities in both social and civic affairs. Mrs. Warbritton was a member of the First Methodist church in Crawfordsville. In former years she was active in church work. She also devoted much of her activities to work along charitable lines. Her husband was prominent for years in Republican politics in Montgomery county, having served a number of years as chairman of the county central committee and also as county recorder for two terms. In his later years he had been engaged in the real estate business. Mr. and Mrs. Warbritton were the parents of two children. Their son, Capt. Ernest R. Warbritton, overseas in World War I, died Oct. 14, 1918, while in England. His death occurred less than a month before the signing of the armistice. Capt. Warbritton was a Purdue graduate. Mrs. Blanche W. Stout, daughter, who survives, resides at 406 South Washington street, at the Warbritton home. Her husband, Emmett C. Stout, is well known as a teacher in the Crawfordsville city schools. Mrs. Warbritton is also survived by one sister and three brothers, Miss Dora Rush, of Crawfordsville; Ed Rush also of Crawfordsville; Charles Rush of New Market and Frank Rush, of Danville, Ill. Funeral services in Mrs. Warbritton's memory will be conducted by Dr. Claude M. Mc Clure, pastor of the First Methodist church, at the resident, 406 south Washington street, at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. The body will be removed from the Utterback and Bright funeral home to the residence Thursday morning where friends may call after the noon hour Thursday. Burial will be made in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery. - kbz
