Warbinton - George

Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, George Warbinton committed suicide at his home on Eph Griffith’s farm near Tinkersville. Mr. Warbinton sustained a several injury of the spine by a fall two years ago and has never been well since. It is remarked by his neighbors that for the last three weeks he was quite melancholy. Saturday at dinner he remarked to the family that it was the last time they would ever eat together again, but on account of his poor spirits they passed the remark off, especially as only the day before he had laid plans for several weeks ahead. After dinner he spent an hour in writing and figuring and then went out on the farm. At 4 o’clock, a small boy who is being raised in the family, discovered Mr. Warbinton’s coat and vest hanging on the pump in the meadow, his boots were on the platform and a plank had been pulled off exposing the 20’ of water in the stock well. The lad at once called Mr. Finley Closson. Mr. Warbinton’s daughter went to the well and looking in could discover nothing. As soon as her husband returned an examination showed that the body was at the bottom of the well. It was at once taken out and prepared for burial. In his vest pocket Mr. Warbinton left a full statement of his financial affairs, directions as to his funeral, place of burial and directions for finding his body in the well. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 1 p.m. from the deceased’s late home. Mr. Warbinton was a man honored in the community which – with regret is sad end. - kbz
