Smith H. Wann, 85, retired merchant, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Cartwright. He had been cared for at the Cartwright home since suffering a paralytic stroke Jan 21. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fishero Funeral Home, Veedersburg. The Rev. Jack Caldwell, Crawfordsville Baptist minister officiated and burial was in Silver Island cemetery. Mr. Wann spent most of his life near Silverwood, where he operated an implement store and later a general store for a total of nearly 40 years. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Odle, Veedersburg and three grandchildren. ---transcribed by kbz - thanks to Betty D.

Veedersburg—Smith H. Wann passed away Tuesday night at the home of his wife’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Cartwright, in Veedersburg. He had suffered a stroke January 23, 1948.
He was born November 11, 1863 in Parke County, Indiana, the son of John and Mary Ann Samuels. Mr. Wann married Mary Wattermann, who passed away forty years ago.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
