Lewis Wallace, 70 years old, Indianapolis attorney and nephew of Gen. Lew Wallace, author of "Ben-Hur" died yesterday afternoon at the Methodist Hospital. Death came at 3 o'clock following a heart attack suffered two hours previously, after Mr. W. had eaten lunch. In good spirits and apparently in good health, Mr. Wallace had gone to the Columbia Club as was his custom for luncheon. He left the club and returned to his office in the Fletcher Savings & Trust building, where he was stricken. He was removed immediately to the hospital where he died two hours later. Although funeral arrangements had not been completed last night, it was announced that burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Arrangements will not be completed until receipt of word from a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Wallace Dreschler of Sacramento, Cal. Mrs. Dreschler, a son, Warrack Wallace, 1615 N. Talbott St, and a brother, Col. William Wallace of the US. Army on special service, survive. Mr. W. lived at 946 N. Meridian St, Apt 17. He had been a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. He was born in May 1858 in what was then on the outskirts of Indianapolis, near what is now Delaware & North Sts. He was educated in the public schools of the city and later attended Butler from which he was graduated.- kbz
